What is it?
The Workforce Development Team is designed to support business with Human Resource planning, training development and delivery. Resources and funding support may be available through Industry Workforce Development (IWD).
Administered by IWD, the program assists business by undertaking a needs assessment of the company and developing a Human Resource plan/strategy for the organization.

This innovative service will provide options to an employer to assist with a current issue and will also provide a follow-up service to ensure that the employers' needs have been met.
Integration of our services allows the Workforce Development Team to connect the employer to a network of training programs and Human Resource development services. The combination of internal Government and external agency resources can create a custom made solution for the company. These services

Workplace Education Manitoba (WEM) was established in 1991 to build workplace Essential Skills awareness, application and enhanced functioning, as well as develop Essential Skills projects and practitioner training in Manitoba. WEM responds to organizations' and employers' requests for workplace Essential Skills support, offering a full range of assessment and training in the nine workplace Essential Skills. WEM also performs original research and develops business human resource solutions. We offer workplace Essential Skills assessments, develop and deliver Essential Skills training solutions and provide Essential Skills expertise for business, labour and practitioners.
Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety
This national organization promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing information and advice about occupational health and safety.
Employment Standards Branch: Manitoba Labour and Immigration
This branch provides information regarding minimum standards of employment, including wages, work hours, vacations and employee right according to provincial legislation. It also investigates complaints and suspended violations of employment standard laws.
Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC)
This branch provides counseling and referral to jobs, training and work experience programs, occupational testing and job search assistance. Financial assistance is available for training and mobility programs as well as special programs to improve employability of natives, women, the disabled and members of visible minorities.
Canada Labour Code
The Canada Labour Code establishes standards for occupational safety and health, as well as for labour issues such as wages, in accordance with federal labour laws that promote fair, healthy, stable and cooperative workplaces. Safety officers provide information, conduct inspections and help establish safety/health committees. |
